Hi, I’m Michael

I’m proud to be carrying the torch for Valentines, the family business my dad started over a decade ago. What began as a mobile coffee van has grown into something truly special, and now, with the reins officially in my hands, we’re setting our sights on the future.

Our vision is simple: to bring Valentines to workplaces across the North East, offering more than just great food and drink. We want to create little sanctuaries, spaces where people can step away from the hustle of the workday, take a breath, and enjoy a moment of calm.

We’ve already seen just how powerful that can be. Our Seaham site has been a real success, not only in terms of business, but in the way it’s been embraced by the community. It’s reminded us exactly why we do what we do. With new workspace locations on the horizon in 2025 and even more planned for 2026, we’re more excited than ever for what’s to come.

From the past, to the future.

From humble beginnings...

Established in 2012 as a mobile barista coffee service - what was then ‘Coffee Supreme’ began from the ground up, with Mark starting the business from scratch. We wouldn’t call it rags to riches, but his hard work is the very foundation of where we are now.

Catering in house at ResQ

In 2019, as an extension of our mobile coffee service, we began a then-temporary in-office service to ResQ staff. What began as a 2-week coffee provision has become years and counting, and we have since expanded our focus towards great quality food, drink, and service.

New brand from an old hand

With most of the hard work out of the way, Michael decided it was a good time to join the business, and in late 2023 so began the passing of the torch from father to son. In 2024 we rebranded - and as a family father/son business we thought it only fitting to name it after Mark's own father - Valentine ‘Val’ Riley - hence, ‘Valentines’. The logo incorporates Mark’s own signature - a nod to our family heritage and values.

Keeping our root values

As a small family business, defining "Company Values" feels a bit formal—really, it just comes down to our values. Above all, we’re here to offer great food, great drinks, and great service. And when we say great, we mean the kind that comes from real passion—the kind you find in independent cafés where quality and care matter Our service isn’t just about ticking a box—we create a space where people can take a break, reset, and enjoy a moment in their day. One of our customers once told us we were her favourite spot in the whole building—that’s exactly the kind of experience we want to give to everyone. We believe in tailoring what we do—whether that’s adapting to a space, curating a menu that suits our customers, or engaging with people in a way that feels personal. And for our clients? We make things easy. We handle the awkward stuff, cross the t’s, dot the i’s, and ensure everything runs smoothly—so they can have complete confidence in what we do.

Give us a go

We provide everything - equipment, staff, and expertise - and can tailor it to any space.
